Jan 15

I hope everyone enjoyed the day off yesterday, and our delayed opening today.  I'm always excited about extra sleep!

Today we only had time for the County Task.  Tomorrow we'll continue rewriting equations into slope intercept form.

Jan 10 - 11

Jan 10
Today we introduced the slope intercept formula.  It is the equation for a line that we'll be using the most.  We took notes, made a flip book for our ISN (p.41) and then did a "Meet n Greet" activity where students had to write equations and find the slope and y intercept.

Jan 11
I introduced students to the Standard Form of an Equation, and then we learned how to convert from Standard form to the slope intercept form of an equation.  We added to the ISN (p.42) and did many practice problems.  I posted a video n Edpuzzle that goes over this content.  We will continue working on this Monday.  (Or Tuesday if we get a snow day!!!)

Jan 8-9

Students will be working on stations to compare proportional relationships.  The Technology station will be working online with Hands On Equations.  Students will complete lessons 1 and 2 using the following links.

Hands On Equations - Lesson 1

Hands On Equations - Lesson 2

PLEASE do not work ahead into Lesson 3!!!

Jan 4 & Jan 7

We worked in stations (that spanned 2 days) on finding slope from different representations.  We found slope from equations, graphs, tables and 2 points.  All completed stations need to be turned in by Friday 1/11.

Jan 2 & 3

Happy New Year & Welcome Back!!!

Jan 2 - SUB DAY!  Students worked on a packet called The Disappearing Donuts.

Jan 3 - Today students received Study Guide B, created 2 foldables for the ISN (page 39), and independently completed a Similar Triangles Worksheet.

Extra credit was provided before break and is due tomorrow, Jan 4.

Week of 12/17

Week of December 17

Wow this week has flown by!  We had our 8.EE.5 assessment and were introduced to similar triangles.  We will continue with similar triangles after the break.

Today (Friday) we'll be reviewing ratios and proportions as they relate to linear equations.  This is going to lay a solid foundation for our continuing study of linear equations.  We're going to complete this work while watching my favorite holiday movie, ELF!  :)

I hope you have a fun, safe and restful break.  See you next year!

Donors Choose

My Donors Choose fundraiser is ending on January 6, and I'm getting pretty nervous!  Please consider donating or sharing the link - bit.ly/HelpMrsSpencersClass,  I'll be sure to share a LOT of pics of the kids working on our new iPads!
